How to activate Windows 11 Pro with a Product Key
The step-by-step guide to entering your Windows 11 Pro activation code and solving the most common problems without being an expert.

Where to enter the activation code
To activate Windows 11 Pro, you must first access your computer's settings. Click on the Start button, which you will find at the bottom center of the screen, and select the gear icon called Settings. Once the window opens, make sure you are in the System tab, which is usually the first visible item on the left.
Scroll down the list of options on the right until you find the Activation item and click on it. On this screen, you will see the current status of your operating system. Look for the item that allows you to change the Product Key or enter a new code. Click on the button to enter the code and type your license key consisting of twenty-five alphanumeric characters, then confirm the operation.
Remember that the Product Key only needs to be entered once. After the first successful activation, the license permanently binds to your computer or your personal account. You will not have to repeat this procedure every time you use the computer.
What to do if online activation fails
In some cases, automatic activation via the internet might not be successful. This can happen due to a temporary overload of the servers or temporary instability of your network connection. If you receive an error message, you do not need to worry because alternative solutions exist.
The first attempt to make is to restart your computer and repeat the procedure described above. Often, this simple step resolves temporary communication problems. If the system continues to show an error, you can use the troubleshooting tool integrated into the same activation page. This tool analyzes the system and tries to correct the error on its own.
How telephone activation works
If activation via the internet continues to show errors, you can start the telephone activation procedure. This option is offered directly by the operating system when standard activation fails. A wizard will appear on the screen showing you a list of phone numbers to call.
During the phone call, an automated voice will ask you to type a long numerical code, called the Installation ID, which you see displayed on your computer screen, on your phone's keypad. After verifying this code, the automated voice will dictate a second code to you, called the Confirmation ID.
Enter this second code in the empty fields that appear on the computer screen and click the confirmation button. This procedure allows you to unlock the license and complete the activation of the operating system even without an active internet connection.
The most common errors and their meaning
During the activation process, you might see some specific error codes. One of the most frequent indicates that the code entered is not valid for the version of Windows installed on the computer. This happens, for example, if you try to use a code for the Pro version on a computer where the Home version is installed. In this case, you must verify the exact version of your operating system.
Another common error signals that the code is already in use on another device. This means that the license has exceeded the limit of allowed installations. If you have just purchased the license, it could be a transcription error of the code.
Finally, some errors simply indicate the inability to reach the activation servers. These problems are almost always temporary and are resolved by waiting a few hours before trying to enter the code again.
